I'm Back and University Life...

Well hello there everyone!

I'm back! I have finished my mountain of essays and I am going home for Christmas in 3 days time! Ooft, I'm excited! Today I have packed up most of my things to the sounds of christmassy Buble and tonight we're having take away to celebrate! I know you're jealous.

Today I thought I'd share my current thoughts of University life with you. I have learnt a lot over the past term, most of which has nothing to do with my course content. I have found it particularly difficult to deal with unreliable people this term. Whether its not pulling their weight during group work, remind me again why I chose to do a drama course?! or not paying bills its a struggle. I still can't believe that some people have such different values to mine. It's been really eye opening. I took it for granted that people thought about others before they acted. It's been quite a learning curve and one that has contributed to my decision to move back to the family home to complete my final year at university.

To be honest with you all its not been that tough a decision. I hated living in halls, communal living is not my thing, but I was quite looking forward to moving in with a few girls in our own house this year. Now, don't get me wrong I don't hate it, in fact most of the time I quite like living in our little house, we keep it clean and tidy and it's generally a nice place to be! The only problem, money. Having to sort out bills etc has just proven to be way too difficult, and to be frank I just don't need the stress. After some careful calculations as to how much it would cost to make the 45 minute commute from home to uni every day it just seems silly not to. I am going to be saving me, and my mumma, lots of money and ultimately I know I will be a lot happier.

I have changed a lot since coming to uni and I don't necessarily think that its been for the better. I feel myself being less sociable and less myself more and more. I don't remember the last time I went out at uni, I know. Shock horror! A uni student who doesn't really go out. I just can't be bothered. I don't have a good time and so why waste the money! I loved my time in school and spent a lot of time with my friends now I don't really enjoy uni and I spend a lot of time on my own. Since I started my job in the summer I can feel myself coming back. I am doing something that has confirmed that I want to go into teaching and I really enjoy it! This job is at home, therefore giving me more of a reason to move back. I still have really close friends at home who I will be able to see lots more. I definitely think its the right decision.

So, what I'm trying to say is, if you don't love uni then you are not alone. I am so over people judging me for not going out, or for not enjoying the 'wonders' of halls, what now? Just because the general uni student drinks their own weight in alcohol most nights of the week and loves living in squalor doesn't mean you have to too. Do what makes you happy 'cause that's the most important thing.

I hope this has been vaguely helpful to anyone who is feeling in a similar way. I love reading post like this so hope this will help someone else too!

Lots of love

A little apology...

Hey everyone!

Long time no speak, and its all my fault and I am fully aware I have become a rubbish blogger!

Dear oh dear I have been busy and if I'm honest with you I am still really busy and should probably be writing one of three essays I am still yet to complete...

Does anyone feel my pain here? I am literally snowed under with uni work! Doing a joint honours degree, English and Drama, I find I have to be able to switch between two mind sets so frequently it becomes a little overwhelming. I have so much to do in these final few weeks leading up until christmas, three 2,000 words essays, a 45 minute performance to rehearse for and supporting notes to write for that performance. Woah there, I scare myself just by writing it! The worst thing is my next deadline isn't until March, yeah great planning there uni, really great!

HOWEVER... there is a shining light at the end of the tunnel! The way in which these deadlines fall means I have NOTHING, I repeat NOTHING, to do over my Christmas break! HOORAH!

So, the point of this post, I haven't forgotten you, in fact I have loads of post floating around for you BUT they wont appear for at least 3 weeks. I really want to get some Christmas content to you and as soon as those pesky essays are handed in and this stupid performance is performed I am all yours!

Do let me know what you would like to see on here, I'd love to have a bit of direction!

I hope you are all well and none of you are as stressed as me!

Lots of love,

Pins of the Week #5

Hey Everyone!
Hope you're all well! Its that time of the week again! Man, these weeks just fly by! I've got reading week next week and I really need the break!

So as Halloween is just around the corner I thought we'd theme this weeks pins and see if I could inspire both myself and you!

1. This is so cool! It almost makes me want to have a Halloween party just to make some cool decorations! I love innovation crafty things, this just really floats my boat! (See what I did there?!)

2. Loving this make up! I love the fact that one side is pretty the other side is different! I know Halloween is about being scary but I can't say I want to go out looking like a zombie, this would be perfect for a Halloween night out! Pretty but shows you've made an effort!

3. Loving the fact this is Halloween so muted down! Black and orange but without dressing up! Perhaps an idea for a shopping trip in the day on Halloween? What do you think?

4. A wearable nail art idea for Halloween! I can't tell you how many intricate or character related ideas there were! I don't want bats and pumpkins all over my nails!!! Just enough to give a nod to the time of the year!

5. Finally a little laughter for you! I hope you can all read this in the way it is said in the film and you've all had a little chuckle! What a good film, who can argue with Mean Girls?! LOVE IT!

So thats it! What're you going as for Halloween? Let me know down below!

Pins of the Week #4

Hey Everyone!

Sorry for the lack of this post last week, I was without my laptop over the weekend and I have been busy with uni things this week so thought I'd just postpone and post this week instead!

So this is what I've been loving for the last two weeks!

1. Ooft, what a beautiful piece of photography. I'd love to see something like this, what a feat of nature! I'm so taken with this photo, I just can't stop looking at it!!!

2. Now, you will all probably know by now that I love me some mint. I have been in a slight dilemma as it really isn't an autumn colour. This is beautiful though, maybe I'll hunt down a mint coat so my love affair doesn't have to end!

3. I really need to stop wedding planning. I have no boyfriend, and need to face the fact its not going to happen for a while, well a girl can dream can't she. I love the neckline of this dress, also the bouquet colours and so understated, I think it just look beautiful!

4. Now, I have a real urge to be creative. I am creative on a daily basis doing a drama degree but not hands on. I want to use glue and paint and actually create an object! I love this idea, a lovely way to change up decor for autumn. Maybe a lovely autumn walk to collect some materials is in order, then I'll come home and sit by the fire and do some crafts. How quaint.

5. Christmas is coming! I love this look for a Christmas or new years party. So pretty but still classy. Gotta get my glitter fix somewhere! Now to get perfecting my liquid liner, a skill I've never really posessed!

So those are my picks! What have you been loving over the past couple of weeks? Do let me know, I love to hear from you!

My Mac Quad!

Hey everyone!
I hope you are all well! I am feeling poopy, freshers flu has well and truly kicked in. Me and my housemate have spent the day in our PJ's watching Les Mis and feeling sorry for ourselves! In an attempt to perk myself up and feel like I have achieved something today I thought I'd finally publish my thoughts etc on my beautiful MAC palette! Its enough to make any make up buff's heart flutter and just editing these photos and writing about it is already making me feel better!

Here it is...

Firstly, let me just address the rubbish pictures. I'm not really sure what happened, the fancy pants camera just wasn't playing ball and the light made the swatches look seriously washed out. They look lovely in person, honest. The one of the open palette is OK though so hopefully you get the gist!

Now, this palette was my birthday pressie from my housemates! Thank you girlies! I got it when I came back to Uni in september and it was the best start to the year ever!

Ooft, I just love it. I chose the colours and I'm tres happy with my choices.

From the top left; Naked Lunch (Minimal pink with shimmer); Satin Taupe (Taupe with silver shimmer); All that Glitters (Beige with gold pearl); Woodwinked (Warm antique gold) All MAC's descriptions obviously!

I think you'll agree they're some blogger favourites! I love naked lunch with satin taupe blended through the crease! It turns almost purple and I love it! All that Glitters is perfect for everyday on it own or as a base with something else accompanying it! Woodwinked is Beautiful. If you pack it onto the lid and then blend it out through the crease the colour completely changes and becomes darker, a perfect easy smokey eye!

Oh my, I really do love this palette! I am so pleased with my choices! I've now got more to add to my list, maybe the 15 pan palette needs to come my way... *remembers the student budget* Well, Christmas is just around the corner!

I think I'd like to do a bit of a look book with looks from this palette, but give me a few weeks until I've got a few days off of Uni and I'll try and sort it out!

What MAC shadows have you got/ do you lust after?

Pins of the week #3

Hey everyone!

Its that time again! This is what I've been Pinterest loving this week!

1. I adore this dress! I think the shape is super flattering and its so elegant! I need one!

2. Ooh I have been in a wedding mood this week. I go through phases of looking at nothing but wedding related pins, this week was pretty much one of those! The lace train on this dress is just gorgeous! *pulls self together*

3. Love this quote. I also quite like the typography, sums up the quote I think! Beautiful!

4. I have been on the look out for some casual clothes this week. I need things that are easy to throw on before a 9 o'clock lecture but something that looks pulled together! I think this perfectly fits the bill. My leather jacket is on its way and I am going to try and recreate this look! Would anyone like a Uni lookbook type post? Let me know down below!

5. Firstly a Fleetwood Mac lyric which I love but even more so the typography! My fave colours and love the floral pattern. I'd like to make my own (or maybe I'll just look on Etsy and have someone make it for me ;))

So thats it! What do you think of my picks? What have you been pinning this week?

Pins of the week #2!

Hey everyone!
So its that time of the week again! Lets see what going on in the world of Pinterest...

1. Ooft I flippin' love these! I like the fact that they have the gold around the toe and heel and the cut out sides. I think they are really cool and would add edge to an outfit without being to masculine! I'm in love!

2. I think this is a pretty style, it would make a nice style to take from day to night. With some curls left to frame the face this is a gorgeous look!

3. CRONUTS. Croissant dough cooked like donuts. They look amazing! Apparently they queue for hours in NYC to get these bad boys, I want to see what all the fuss is about!

4. Aha such a funny quote! I think I find it so funny because I totally agree with her! If I found a little blue box and it was a key chain when I was expecting an engagement ring I would flip! Who's with me!?

5. Love this look! Sophisticated but glamorous! Gorgeous!

The 90's Tag!

Hey everyone!

So today I thought I'd do my first tag on here! I thought the 90's tag would be a bit of fun! I originally saw this on Zoe's (Zoella) channel with Tanya Burr, so thanks girlies!

Lets get started!

1. Favourite Disney Film?

Definitely Beauty and the Beast. If I could be Belle I would! I adore her iconic dress but even more so her red velvet coat with white fur trim, oh lord I do love that outfit! I love every song (and probably know every word of each!) and I would watch it daily if I had the time! I also own a Belle doll that comes with me to and from Uni each term! I love her very much and what makes it worse is I got her not that many Christmases ago because we bought one for my little cousin and I loved her so much I had to have one too! *realises she should probably end the essay on Beauty and the Beast* Moving on!

2. Favourite Music Artist?

Spice Girls. I was a super fan! There is a family video somewhere of me dancing round the Grandparents kitchen singing STOP! I knew know the whole routine and still crack it out at parties to this day!

3. Favourite Candy/Sweeties?

I don’t know if I have a favourite! I loved dip dabs and fruit salads! I was also partial to a chewit or two, but I remember I got a packet as a well done after a Ballet exam and in the car on the way home I chewed one and my tooth came out! Don’t know that I’ve had one since then! haha

4. Favourite Game (Board Game, School Game etc)

I loved Frustration! I think I had a lot to do with way you rolled the dice, popping the middle section, what a good invention!

5. Favourite McDonalds Happy Meal Toy?

Most definitely the mini Beanie Babies! I had a massive collection of normal beanie babies and the mini made a lovely addition! You don’t get such great toys in Happy Meals any more, I do feel sorry for today’s children!

6. Favourite Book?

The Glitter Girls series, that was mini chick lit at its best! They organised sleep overs and schools discos and things and I so wanted to be in their group!

7. Favourite Clothing Store?

Tammy was great, their shops looked so cool, but then they went into BHS and the appeal decreased. I think New Look too, but I’m sure I just went wherever my Mum took me!

8. Favourite NickJnr Show?

OK, so an American question. I’m going to change it to Favourite CBBC show! I loved Tracy Beaker, anything that had real people in to be honest, I have never been a fan of cartoons!

9. What would you watch when you got home from school?

Umm I went to after school clubs and things a lot but Art Attack was a good choice. I also remember ‘My Parents are Aliens’ was on at around that time of the day!

Hope you all enjoyed that! It was fun reminiscing about my childhood! How many of you are 90's kids?! If any of you fancy having a go at this then link you version in the comments! I love to see your responses!

Pins of the week #1!

Well hello again everyone!

Today I want to start a new little series on here. Pins of the week!

I am completely obsessed with Pinterest! I could just spend hours soaking up everything it has to offer. I thought it would be nice if I shared my top 5 pins this week, my 5 favourite things I've have pinned this week!

1. I am stuck in a bit of a hair rut at the moment and I am trying endlessly to find something I like the look of. I'd like to go a a caramel brown colour but not blonde. Argh I don't honestly know but I do love her hair (and her outfit!)

2. Ooh cheeky! ;) I just loved this quote! Totally agree!

3. I just adore this kitchen! Love the colours and cute accessories! I fantasise far too much about what my house will eventually look like! Anyone else have a home obession?!

4. Well would you just look at these! I am definitely getting into the Christmas spirit and when I saw these a melted (see what I did there?!) I will most definitely be making these bad boys when December rears it pretty little head!

5. I love this little bit of photography as well as the actual shoes! I need a pair of mint green Converse in my life! Who doesn't?!

So there you have it! Just a little of what I've been loving this week! You can find the rest of my pins here!

What do we think of this new little series?

Maybelline Baby Skin!

Hey guys!

Hope everyone is well. I am hating this miserable English weather, it's 3.52pm and I am in bed under my duvet trying to forget about the grey skies outside! So in an attempt to cheer up this dreary day I have been doing to beauty investigations and looking at the new releases for autumn.

I came across this lovely...

So I really love the baby lips from Maybelline so when I saw this I was suitably excited.

This new addition to the 'baby' range promises to prime the skin and fill in enlraged pores etc etc. I do suffer from increasingly large pores, particularly around my nose and I am always looking for something to help! I currently am using the Benefit Porefessional and its OK but I probably wont repuchase after it runs out. If this does the same job then it will be a welcome addition to my collection as presumably it will be cheaper the Benefit's offering!

Its currently out in Asia and your guess is as good as mine as to its release in the UK but I will be sure to update this post as soon as a release date is announced!

Whats your initial thoughts on this? Will you be rushing to buy it on its release day? Let me know down below!

Stila 'In The Light' Palette

Hello Everyone!

I'm back into proper blogging mode and I am going to start with the loveliest palette ever!

Stila 'In the Light'.

Apologies for the slightly rubbish swatches but you get the gist!

I seriously love this palette. Every colour is super wearable and you only need one palette to create a multitude of different looks! My most worn shades are 'Sin' (The champagne shade in the top left of the palette) and 'Sunset' (also on the top row, the bronze shade). Together the make a lovely shimmery every day look. I also love 'Bubbly' (first on the left on the bottom row) as an inner corner highlight! With the addition of a Black (Ebony) it means you can create a subtle smokey eye with black power liner for a softer look.

The addition of the smudge stick in damsel, a chocolate brown, is a lovely extra. I love this for a more defined everyday look and use it on my waterline and lash line depending on the look I want to achieve.

This palette is SO versatile! I have used every shade at one time or another and love each and every one!
At only £25 I think this is such a bargain, the shadows are buttery and pigmented and I love them!

Watch out for a post coming soon about my first MAC quad! I am excited to finally own some MAC shadows but they are going to have to do a lot to stand up to these bad boys!

Have you tried this palette or any other Stila products? I'd love to know down below! Also, would anyone like to see some shots of these shadows in action, I think I might do a eye shadow look book type post showing just how versatile these are!

A little catch up...

Hello Everyone! I really hope you are all well!

So, it's been almost 2 months since my last post *slaps wrist*. I feel a little out of practice so I thought I'd just ease myself back in today with a little catch up and explain to you all why things have been so quiet!

Firstly, my laptop broke. Its all been very annoying and stressful. I had had this laptop for a year now, I bought it to start uni with. It has broken twice in this time, both times it being the motherboard at fault. What a great piece of machinery it is! I don't want this post to become a moany one but if anyone who works for Currys PC world is reading this, I was deeply unimpressed by your service. I know that it was sent to HP for repair and they are probably more at fault than anyone else but the customer service I received was anything but good. Really I'd like to be able to buy another, or ideally be given one for all this inconvenience, but a student budget just doesn't stretch that far. Lets all cross our fingers for no further problems!

Other than the obvious problem of no resource to be able to blog from! I also lost a lot of the photos I had ready and edited to go into posts and so this has slowed me further!

In other news I did go on holiday to Portugal and had a lovely time chilling in the sun!

 A Beautiful View!

Me and the sister.

I have previously mentioned that I started a new job which I am LOVING! It has really motivated me as it has confirmed I really want to go into teaching after uni and it has given me even more of a goal to aim for!

Have you noticed a new look here too?! I'm really pleased with the new design and I feel ready to get back into blogging with a lovely new design and lots of posts ready to go!

What have all of you been up to over the summer? I want to here all about it! I really look forward to creating a lovely community here and want it to be a place of conversation! Do let me know what you'd like to see here too!

Caudalie Beauty Elixir...

Hello everyone, I apologise for the lack of post for the last couple of weeks, I have started a new job and had my birthday so I've been a busy bee! Never fear however, I have lots of post ready and waiting so keep an eye out!

So today I thought I'd talk about the much hyped Caudalie Beauty Elixir!

Now, I got this little bottle in my Selfridges Beauty box (mentioned here) and I was super excited to try it as it has been so hyped up all of the beauty blogosphere! It has been a little bit of a disappointment to tell you the truth.

Now, don't get me wrong the smell is lovely and it feels really refreshing on the skin when freshly sprayed. It will most definitely be coming on my holidays with me because its a lovely refreshing spray. I just haven't noticed a massive difference in my skin.

Feel unique says... "Inspired by the "elixir of youth" used by Queen Isabelle of Hungary, Caudalie Beauty Elixir smoothes features, tightens pores, and gives the complexion a burst of radiance. An excellent base for make-up, this water awakens the skin in the morning and livens it up before a night out."
I really don't think it has tightened my pores (something that I really would have loved it to do!) or smooth my skin. It does act a a bit of a glow giver on top of make up ensuring you don't look too cakey through over powdering.

Now, at £10.35 for 30ml, I think it is overpriced considering it has not produced great effects!

I do like using it as I love the smell but I don't think I'll be repurchasing! I had such high hopes, it actually upsets me somewhat that its not blown me away!

Are you one of the people that love it? Please tell me in the comments!

Bare Minerals Review

Hi everyone!
I haven't done a review in a while and so thought I would do so today!

I bought this set a while ago and have been using it on and off because I just can't decide if I like it or not!
In the set you get your colour mineral foundation, a warmth powder, the mineral veil, 'prime time' primer and three brushes. Two sizes of fluffy brushes and a concealer brush. You need these brushes, as they are specifically designed to hold the mineral powder and transfer all the product to you face. Buying all of these products together in this set is the cheapest way to do it and its costs around £50.

The products give a light and very natural coverage. If you are having a very good skin day then these are perfect for just evening out your skin tone and creating a nice base for the rest of your make up.

You are meant to be able to pick up some of the product on the concealer brush to create a fuller coverage in places you need it but I just don't find it does enough, particularly not to coverage blemishes.

The primer is OK, it has a nice consistency and goes onto the skin smoothly but I don't find it makes a lot of difference. I love my Porefessional primer by Benefit and this just isn't as nice.

My favourite way to use the foundation is over my liquid foundation as more of a setting powder, it just finishes the face nicely and make the liquid foundation stay on all day. The mineral veil is a nice translucent powder, the very finely milled powder has a really silky texture on the skin. I don't notice a massive difference with the warmth but you can't win 'em all!

I do like this set, and it is fairly good value for money considering all the products that are included but I probably wont repurchase any of the products again, they just aren't my favourites!

Do you use Bare Minerals? I've heard such good things about it and yet I'm not blown away! Let me know what you think in the comments!
