Spring has Sprung!

So today I handed in my final essay of the year (where on earth has this year gone?!) and I thought to myself what on earth am I going to do until September???

This quote from Anna Karenina really summed it up today! I am going to make lots of plans to do exciting, fun and productive things in my summer and beyond!

I'd quite like to get a bit crafty and maybe make a few things for my new uni room next year, brighten up the wonder that is student housing! Pinterest will be hit hard for inspiration I'm sure!

I want to go to new places but being a poor student, who is slightly obsessed with beauty products, I have very little money to spend. So, my plan is to stay in the country go on nice little day trips! I'd like to see some more theatre too but unfortunately the same applies!

Ok, so here's my challenge to you, sit down and make a list. A list of lovely things that you want to achieve. Let be productive together!

Let me know your ideas, I'd love to hear them!

Hope you're enjoying the sunshine, I certainly am!

Pastel Nails

My current nail obsession is pastels! Actually my current colour obsession full stop is pastels! I think its my way of summoning spring, perhaps if I wear pretty colours the sun will come out in celebration?!?! OK, maybe not but we can all live in hope!

I bought these four colours from Barry M when they were on offer in boots, I got totally carried away and just had to buy them!

I really like them!!! I love the colour range Barry M offer, they literally have every colour under
the sun! The formula's are ok, they do tend to chip after a few days, particularly on my nails, I really don't know what I do but as soon as I move my nails chip! For this reason I'm not too bothered about buying super expesive nail polish as no matter what brand it is they aways chip!!! These bottles are around £2.99 and I think you get what you pay for!

My favourite colour is the mint green, I also love adding the Topshop glitter over the top! The colour is Adrenalin but it seems to have been discontinued (cries a little inside) but I think it looks like Tinkerbell and I loveeee it!

If you want a little spring pick me up then I definitely reccomend getting a pretty polish! Every time I look at my nails it just brightens my day!!!

Find these colours here!

Any favourite brands or colours of the moment? Let me know!

Illamasqua Pure Pigment: Beguile

Say hello to the prettiest glitter on the planet...

Let me just start by saying this arrived in a box about 10 times bigger than necessary! Now don't get me wrong I love getting parcels but even I thought this was a tad excessive!

Okay so now to the business in hand... This pigment is just beautiful!

It looks white in the pot but when you sweep it across your lids it has flecks of mint and pink glitter, literally my two favourite colours!!! It's just lush!

You do have to pack it onto your lids to make the most of the colour but its really subtle and I think it makes for a good every day look, just sweep it across the lids and your good to go!

Now the price... I got it at half price so paid £8 a price that I thought was quite reasonable, you do get a lot in the pot, I can't see me ever running out! However I'm not sure I'd spend £16 on it...

I'm so ready to try some more Illamasqua products! Have you tired any? Any recommendations?

Rimmel: Wake Me Up

So, after all the hype surrounding this line I had to try it out!

Verdict: LOVE IT!

First things first, who wouldn't love this packaging?! I love the bright orange, it adds a bit of colour to my make up bag, and it has a shimmery finish which is so pretty! I also love the curvy foundation bottle, so thumbs up on the packaging front!!!

Firstly let me talk about the concealer. I really like this concealer but to be honest with you it doesn't quite have enough coverage for blemishes and spots. I like to use it under my eyes and I really think it helps to hide my dark circles, this is probably due to the tiny shimmer particles in the formula.

Okay so moving onto the foundation, I'm not going to lie I was a little worried about the shimmer in this foundation. I thought it could just be too glittery and make my face resemble something of a disco ball... However, it proved me wrong and its actually gorgeous. It gives a really good coverage for me, I'd say a general medium coverage perfect for spring when my skin looks a little better naturally. I apply it with my Real techniques Stippling Brush, and I find it gives me a really nice, natural finish. With a little of the Stay Matte powder over the top I am good to go!!!

I use the colours True Ivory (foundation) and Classic Beige (concealer), I'm not sure why my concealer is darker than my foundation but they seem to be a pretty good match for my skin!

I'd quite like to try the Shimmering Touch instant radiance too because I like these products so much :)

These products are really affordable and personally I don't think you have to spend millions to find a decent foundation!

Have you tried any of the products in this line? If so what did you think??

Now I'm back off to university land for my final term of year one, God knows where that time has gone!!

Yankee Tea Lights

Its Sunday, which means to time for relaxation, a spot of pampering and more often than not some chocolate! Whats a good pamper session without a few candles to set the mood?!

Make way for these beautys...

I bought these in an Edinburgh Woolen Mill shop when I went to Plymouth a few weeks ago with the intention of saving them for my Uni room next year (we're not allowed candles in halls this year so I'm making the most of it next year in our house!) As you can probably tell I have caved and used them already, I'd be surprised if they make it to September!

Now, why do you think I was drawn to this particular scent... yes the pink got to me and obviously I had to go and try it out!

I don't like musky smells, or ones that make you feel a bit fluffy headed, I like zingy and fresh fragrances and so these really float my boat! Obviously they smell really fruity and I do think they have a slightly floral scent as well, which I absolutely love! They're just lovely and the fact that they're pink just makes them even better!!!

Look how pretty!!

This is a Partylite holder that I got at a candle party probably two years ago now, go and have a look at their website they do some lovely things! I just think tea lights are so much easier than big candles and you get the luxury of displaying them in pretty things like this! Also, the tea lights are far cheaper than the jars and you still get the same lovely smell, RESULT!

Go and have a look at the yankee website (here) and see what other amazing fragrances they have to offer, there really is something for everyone!

Now I'm off to listen to some Michael Buble or something of that vain and paint my nails in a cloud of this lovely smell!

Liz Earle: Cleanse and Polish

*Fanfare* The BEST cleanser I have ever tried!!!

This Hot Cloth Cleanser is just AMAZING! I will hold my hands up, I've never tried any Liz Earle products before this, but this will evidently change after the discovery of this product.

I saw this product reviewed on so many beauty blogs and as I have really been struggling with my skin recently anything was worth a try. BINGO. It really worked. Even after the first time I used it I knew I loved it! It leaves your skin feeling SO smooth after every use, its almost a shame to put moisturiser on after because I just wanted to stoke my skin!!!

All you have to do, using 1 maybe 2 pumps, is rub the cleanser all your face with full make up on. Leave your eyes (and lipstick) till last, because that bit gets messy. Then with hot water wipe off all the cream with the muslin cloth.  SIMPLE. Splash your face with cold water after just to close the pores and bobs your uncle!

With chamomile and eucalyptus are very soothing, reducing red marks, the cocoa butter leaves the skin soft. All these ingredients also mean that the product has such a nice smell!

I actually look forward to taking my make up off at night because this product is so nice, its no longer a chore that, if I'm honest, I often skipped!

I honestly love this product and will definitely repurchase again and again and again!

Right, I'm off to clean my face ;)

Au revoir x

P.S. You can find this product HERE, or you can buy Liz Earle from John Lewis :)

Top 5 Lip Products

Hello Everyone!

Okay so... this is my FIRST EVER blog post! *round of applause*

I have decided to kick things off with my top 5 lip products! I've recently become a real lip product junkie and so thought it would make a nice start. Some of these I've loved for a while and some are newbies in my collection.

From left to right: Revlon Creme Brulee; Benefit On the Sly; Rimmel Apocaliptic; Clinique Grapefruit; Maybelline Pink Punch.

I'm not going to do these in any particular order because I love them all the same!

So first up is the MAYBELLINE COLOUR SENSATIONAL lipstick in PINK PUNCH. Now i think this is an older shade and so I'm not sure if you can still get hold of this exact colour but the formulas are still the same. The colour PINK LOLLIPOP is a pretty good match and you can find that here.
The formulas a SO creamy and they go on a dream. Some lipsticks go a bit flakey, and really settle into any dryness on your lips but these don't. They give a really smooth finish and the colours are AMAZING. This one is so vibrant and with a slightly red undertones I think its really warm, and it go well with my skin tone! Also I love the packaging, the bright coloured plastic really floats my boat!

Next I have chosen the REVLON LIP BUTTER in CREME BRULEE. You can find this here.
I really like this lip butters, they're so moisturising (as the name might suggest) and as I do get quite dry lips something that moisturises and colours gets a thumbs up from me! The colours aren't that pigmented, but as an everyday lip I think they do their job well. This one is a nude/gold. Now it sounds weird, I know, but it actually does look really nice. It just gives a nice shimmer, that works well with a everyday look.

Thirdly its BENEFIT SILKY FINISH lipstick in ON THE SLY. Benefit have recently had a bit of an overhaul and the colours have changed, (this upset me greatly when I found out my favourite eye shadow no longer exists!) but having had a nose around their website good-to-go looks quite similar.
I really like this lipstick because its a different shade to what I'd usually wear. I either go nude or bright, I'm not sure about darker colours on me. This colour is a burgundy red sort of colour and really looks nice for a classy look. Its not too in your face but it really looks like you've made an effort! I'm not sure about the packaging, its a little boring, but you know you cant win 'em all.

Ok, new obbsession right here. This is the RIMMEL APOCALIPS lip lacquer in APOCALIPTIC. I LOVE this. I don't really know what to say. Its just amazing. The colour is SOOO pigmented and the formula means it lasts ages. I wore it out to a meal the other day and even after eating and drinking, although it wasnt as bright or shiny, the colour still remained. I love how shiny these are, and because its a lacquer instead of a lipstick it feels so nice on your lips. The feeling of a gloss with the colour of a lipstick. Top marks Rimmel, you've done yourself proud here! Go and have a nose at the other colours on offer here.

Last, but by no means least, is the CLINIQUE SUPERBALM MOISTURISING GLOSS in GRAPEFRUIT. This is my favourite gloss of all time! I love the formula, it doesn't go sticky as it wears off just leaves your lips feeling soft. It lasts a long time compared to a lot of other glosses, and I really love it. I love this colour because its pink without being too pink, it just looks natural. Not a lot more to say on this but go out and buy one cause they're lush!

So thats my top 5 lip products. Hope you enjoyed this, let me know in the comments!

Thanks for reading,
